EMC #10 Draw a Hand

Today I tried to draw people in the parking lot of W-mart. I was not having much luck, but this time I am not quitting. I am going to keep drawing all the bad drawings I need to to get to drawing decent looking people. I felt so tense after that, that I decided to start the challenge of drawing a hand by doing a coutour drawing.

Then I attempted to draw my hand. It turned out better than I thought it would-it seems I have a real phobia about drawing anybody-or parts of any body!

I think your people sketches look good. I especially like the girl, you've captured her dress and overall attitude very well.

But I know what you mean about feeling tense. I know I have to draw badly before I can draw well but it can get so frustrating. I am getting better at pushing through the frustration but sometimes I just throw up my hands and go do something else for awhile.

It's hard when what one sees in one's head doesn't yet translate to the page.

I love the girl too. People walking in and out of Walmart..they're there for all of probably just a few seconds that you even get to capture something. Thats so hard to do! And yet, you are getting them down on paper. Good job. I also love your hand drawings. You're doing terrific.

I LIKE the sketches of people!! And I especially like the contour drawing of your hand--it looks very confidently made. Great progress with your blog!

I agree with all the above! Your hand drawing is great -- not at all timid! And I love the idea of drawing people going in and out of Walmart. That would be TOUGH and you did a great job!
