In the beginning...
I'm starting some new pieces today. I primed and then gathered together some vintage papers to use as a base.
I glued some on the artist panel. Eventually, I'll paint over these papers, and add more vintage paper, but bits of this print will still peek though. It adds a nice bit of depth. In these I've got vintage checks, trading stamps books, play money, foreign phone book pages, ledger pages, and pages from an old stamp collectors book. I like to do several at a time while I've got my brush full of glue.
Now to let them dry, and get out the paints! Some of these will have a Route 66 theme, and I've included papers from Dwight since it's along the old road, Others are a mystery, even to me. Sometimes I get ideas about what the subject will be after I see how the colors turn out.

Finally...
getting my little workspace to the point where I can actually find things and work. Now, if I could lay my hands on my camera, I wouldn't have to use my phone....

Working away...
My little studio is uptown at the shop, so I am treated to the traffic noise of Route 66, radios blaring out of peoples cars on a nice night, street lights, and the occasional loud partiers from the bars strolling by.
All of which is part of being downtown and I like it.
I've just been getting a little work done..playing around with the paints and paper, doing a little drawing.

In my little studio...
I set up a little studio at work and I'm enjoying staying late or working in the slow moments of the day. If I had running water in that room, it would be the berries. Apparently I need lots and lots of paper towels!

Rearranging....
I was inspired by Lindsay's post to show you what I have been up to in my studio. I have been working on organizing stuff at our house. My studio was in a tiny bedroom and had turned into a storage space where I could not even work. If my computer had not crashed last week, you would be treated to an amazingly messy before shot. But our hard drive bit the dust and we lost some recent photos. Lucky you! I decided to move the studio into the room that was our exchange student's bedroom. I still did not get it all moved, but I am making progress.
We found this desk on sale at Office Max and I think I'm going to like it. In the middle of this project I could not resist starting to work on my son's high school scrapbook. He graduated in 2005, so you can see how long I've been putting this off!
