Challenge #49 Draw My Refrigerator

I finally did another challenge and combined it with drawing an interior. This is one end of our kitchen including the frige covered with pictures of family and friends. Our frige is over 20 years old--my folks gave it to us when they got a new one. The ice crusher broke, but otherwise it's still going strong. I wonder if the new ones are made that well. Those french doors actually lead to a closet and I plan to put more pics in behind the panes.

I have noticed a shift in my thinking about my sketchbook...I used to be uptight about drawing in a sketchbook, worrying that I might mess up, and ususally I abandoned the sketchbook before long. This time I have stuck with it longer than I ever have. Some drawings I am happy with and some not so much, but each page is a new chance to try and to see things a little more clearly. It shows me learning and I'm liking that.

Love your kitchen sketch. I just got a new fridge... my icemaker was kaputt also. I ended up getting a black one, and I love it. It is a bit smaller than the monster that we had before ... fits in the hole better, and I have ICE!

I'm so glad you are developing a bond with your sketchbook. Don't you dare put it down, because I enjoy checking out your art too much. LOL

Great drawing of the kitchen. I understand about being afraid to mess up your sketchbook ... but then again, that's why it is a sketchbook and not something that you hang on the wall. :-) It is good that you're getting more comfortable using it -- before you know it you'll be diving into new books without a second thought!

Good perspective on your drawing, Joyce. Yes, the more you draw in your sketchbook the less precious each page will become and you'll see it more like a tool. Although I must say I'm more comfortable "messing around" in some of my other ones, other than my Moleskine. It just feels 'special' somehow.

Congrats on such a wonderful drawing and also on your attitude about your sketchbook. :o) Your kitchen looks like a friendly happy place. You've done a really great job depicting all the details that give the drawing personality. Great job!

I love all your drawings but I am especially impressed by the drawings of your interior. What you say about not 'spoiling' the sketchbook by bad drawings is soo true. I am trying to accept and even like the bad drawing I make in my Moleskine, it still is a 'struggle'; I hope one day I will be as strong as you (or less critical as i am right now) and consider it 'a learning process'
