We had a wonderful couple of weeks at the cottage. At first I was feeling like whole page drawings were just too much to think about, so I divided the page into little squares like the grids I have seen many journalers using. I like how it turned out.
Just a little sketch of the lilies that grow around the back door.
One day we went to the beach on Lake Michigan. There must have been a storm moving in because the waves were much bigger than normal....we had great time playing in them. That lady in the skirt was there watching five of here grandkids swim.
Louie has been losing a lot of weight and muscle mass this year...he has trouble getting up and down. He still loves the water though and went swimming almost every day. When I drew this he was snoozing on the porch, and I was relaxing in the swing.....ahhhh.

Lovely, lively and fun, Joyce! Welcome back---it looks like you had a wonderful vacation!
Wowee, these are absolutely wonderful!! You captured the essence of your vacation perfectly. Love them all! I like those little vignettes--great idea.
Wow, great sketches. I like the top one in particular. Sounds like you had a great time.
Wonderful vacation drawings! Great rich color in the top one -- and I love the looseness of the lines in the drawing of Louie. Beautifully done!
:-)
These journal pages have a great feel to them. Really capture the holiday (or as you say 'vacation'). Very inspirational as I begin to count the weeks until my holiday during which I hope to do some nice journal pages too.
Nice to see you back Joyce! The top one is lovely. Beautiful colours and the little vignettes are a great idea. The sketch of Louie is perfect!
Beautiful, beautiful work! And you were only having fun-- so wonderful!
welcome back - beautiful sketches!
These are great and it was fun catching up on your blog. My favorites are the multi-paned drawing and the ones of Louie and the porch swing too. SOunds like a wonderful vacation.
Thanks everyone! We did have a nice relaxing time. Now after working for 2 weeks I'm ready to go back! Also, Louie seems to be feeling much better these days.
Great drawings!

New to this world of blogging, so I have been looking over all the great blogs today and tonight. Very nice work here. I used to do something similar quite often. I had a book of dreams, where I would sketch out the dream as soon as I woke up. Did that for about two years. After seeing your work, it may be time to do that again. Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the great work!
So many posts I want to comment on.... For starters, I love Louie. Not only do you do a great job with the page composition, but also his fur. He really looks like he has been enjoying the lake.
Love your sketches! As a stamper as well as a sometime sketcher, I have to ask -- what's the alphabet you used in the first page under this date? Such an interesting font.
Thanks
Pam
Pam, that set is one that I got a Michael's or Hobby Lobby. It's called the "Classic Alphabet & Numbers" collection by Stampabilities. 14.99 and I think it was half off that day! I need to trim some of the background away I think.
Christeen, Keith and Suzanne thank you for your comments. I did have fun with Louie's hair!
I love your use of rubber stamps and watercolor. I too use the regular moleskine. Great job.
